The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Ri-Bhoi District, an organisation representing headmen, has decided to protest against the government’s failure to appoint a full-fledged Block Development Officer for Umsning block.
The decision to hold an agitation was taken at a meeting held today.
President of the synjuk, BB Makdoh told reporters that agitation is warranted against the government’s failure to respond to their plea. He said that the synjuk had officially met the minister concerned and application was submitted to him for the appointment of full-fledged block officer but with no response till date.
He said the headman will protest at the Umsning C&RD Block office.
According to the synjuk having a stable administrative presence to enhance public services was vitally important. Makdoh asserted that the constant rotation of BDOs negatively impacts work culture and the implementation of government schemes.
