The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong of Ri-Bhoi today expressed their opposition and refusal to accept a notification issued by the office of the Hima Mylliem over the issue of no-objection certificates (NOCs).
The order stated that anyone wanting to start a commercial enterprise under the villages of Hima Mylliem must first apply for an NOC from the Hima.
The headmen body submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Executive Member in charge of Elaka in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Jambor War. seeking his intervention.
The Hima Mylliem order, dated April 4, 2022, also applies to guest houses, hotels, petrol pumps, car showrooms, wine shops, workshops, etc.
The headmen said that the order infringes on the power and dignity of the Dorbar Shnongs and will also be an extra bureaucratic headache for entrepreneurial youths.
