In response to complaints regarding the exorbitant prices of school books, police in Nongpoh conducted surprise inspections today at bookshops situated in Iewmawlong.
Parents had complained to a pressure group and it, in turn, submitted evidence of the overcharging to the Deputy Commissioner.
In light of these complaints, the district administration instructed the police to verify the claims against book vendors. During the inspections, the police substantiated the allegations, leading to the identification of vendors engaged in such practices.
