Six top BJP leaders from Ri-Bhoi district have said that they have lost confidence in the leadership of State party president Earnest Mawrie for his decision to sack them.
The six leaders are BJP Ri-Bhoi general secretary Silentstar Rani, Nongpoh Mandal president Broster Laloo, Umsning Mandal president Stining S. Nongbri, Jirang Mandal president Comfort Dolloi, Mawhati Mandal president Ebinel Dkhar and Umroi Mandal president Banri Lapang.
In a statement issued today, the BJP leaders said that Mawrie had “lost his mental balance” by claiming that they are not party members.
“Mawrie claimed that he had issued show cause notice to us through one Dipayan Chakraborty. This is unjustified as this party president has no knowledge at all about the history of BJP in Ri-Bhoi district,” the six party leaders said.
“We would like to ask him when did he join BJP and under whose leadership,” they asked.
Slamming Mawrie for appointing Rev. P Pnar as BJP Ri-Bhoi district president without consulting all party functionaries in the district, the six leaders also said that “Mawrie has lost the confidence of all members in the district and should therefore quit the post as State party president.”
“By his divide and rule policy, Mawrie has caused total confusion and chaos in the BJP in Ri-Bhoi district which is also against the principles of the party,” they said.
