In achieving the goal set by the central government for the elimination of tuberculosis by 2025, the Ri-Bhoi District Tuberculosis Officer held a sensitisation programme here today.
The sensitisation on the elimination of TB was attended by the Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun, State Tuberculosis Officer DM Mawrie, Ri-Bhoi Additional Deputy Commissioner CR Kharbihkhiew, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr E Kalwing, Medical and Health Officer to Governor’s House Dr MN Marak and other officials.
Dr Mawrie and Dr E Kalwing enlightened about the aims and objectives of the national TB-free campaign and also the web-enabled patient management system for TB control under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
The system is used by health officials at various levels across the country both in the public and private sector to register cases, order tests from laboratories, record treatment details, monitor treatment adherence and to transfer cases between care providers. It also functions as the National TB Surveillance System and enables reporting of various surveillance data to the central government.
Meanwhile, Sohtun assured that he would provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month for three years to 10 TB patients in his constituency.
