A young academic from Ri-Bhoi, Evarist Myrsing, received an honorary degree from the little-known World Human Rights Protection Commission (WHRPC) recently.
Myrsing is a senior academic mentor at the Bharti Foundation. The award was conferred on February 21 in New Delhi with no less a figure than the Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu presenting the honorary degrees during a workshop on human rights and Covid-19 resilience.
Myrsing described his work as empowering young people and village communities in West Jaiñtia Hills, especially government and SSA schools, under the quality support programme of Bharti Foundation.
He also serves as the President of the International Community of the Divine Saviour (ICDS) or the Lay Salvatorians in Meghalaya and India.
The WHRPC is headquartered in New Delhi and has precious little real information about what it actually does on its website.
