KSU leader Reuben Najiar today stressed for revamp of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) in order to streamline its functioning.
Referring to the recent irregularities in recruitment conducted by the commission, Najiar said, “The MPSC needs total revamp, and as long as the members of the commission are political appointees, these kinds of irregularities will keep on happening.”
He informed that the KSU would also soon demand the revamp of the MPSC, including the removal of political appointees. He also said that the MCS examination should be conducted annually and not every five years and also to complete all recruitment processes within a year.
Najiar also recalled the earlier claim made by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the MPSC follows the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) pattern.
“Is the MPSC really following the UPSC pattern in letter and spirit or is it just namesake,” Najiar asked.
“The UPSC conducts the personal interview under camera surveillance, but the MPSC does not. It is high time they do the same because there is nothing to hide if you are clean,” he added.
