The District Magistrate of Eastern West Khasi Hills has banned the sale of nylon or synthetic threads used in the flying of kites in the district as well as the use of Chinese manja, the powdered glass that is traditionally used on the kite strings.
This order has been made to protect human beings and animals from harm as well as preventing environmental pollution.
