Five thousand students have been selected from a country-wide application pool for the Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships 2023-24, results for which were announced today.
Thirty-two students from Meghalaya (five), Tripura (12), Manipur (10), Arunachal Pradesh (three) and Mizoram (two) were among them, a press release informed today.
There were over 58,000 applications this year from students in more than 5,500 educational institutions.
The scholars come from a number of different streams. Selected first-year undergraduate students will receive grants of up to Rs 2 lakh over the course of their study.
In addition to their performance in the aptitude test and their Class 12 marks, 75 percent of the selected students have an annual household income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh.
Since the programme began in 1996, 23,136 student scholarships have been awarded, out of which 48 percent were for girls and 3,001 are students with disabilities.
