West Garo Hills District Magistrate Ram Singh passed an order today to allow for some relaxations to facilitate the citizens of the district during the total curfew by allowing the opening of locality grocery shops, vegetables and meat vendors, milk booths, etc. for purchase of essential items on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 am to 1 pm in consultation with the Locality Development Committees and Tura Municipal Board for urban areas and Market Development Committees along with the Block Development Officers for rural areas.
The order also included allowing of lifting essential items from wholesalers from 5 am to 9 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, home delivery services on all weekdays subject to issuance of valid passes by the Deputy Commissioner, and opening of ration shops on all weekdays from 8 am to 1 pm in all localities and villages.
Further, the order also included set conditions like allowing only one person from each household for purchasing of essential items, wearing of facemasks, maintaining physical distance, shops to have barriers, no overcrowding and not allowing private and public transportation during the relaxation time.
The order also said that any violation of the conditions will lead to revoking of relaxations.
