The Ri-Bhoi Dorbar felicitated WR Kharlukhi, the new Rajya Sabha MP for Meghalaya, today.
The felicitation programme was organized at Nongthymmai Umsning in the office premises of the Ri-Bhoi Dorbar and was attended by chief adviser to the government, DD Lapang. Others who were present were Umsning MLA Jason Sawkmie Mawlong, Nongpoh MDC Balajied Rani, Umsning MDC Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong and others.
During the day-long programme, the Ri-Bhoi Dorbar also submitted a memorandum asking for financial assistance from the MP scheme for the construction of a multipurpose Ri-Bhoi National Dorbar Hall at Nongpoh at an estimated cost of Rs 18 crore.
Addressing the function, Kharlukhi lauded the efforts of Ri-Bhoi Dorbar for the betterment of the people. He assured those present that he will work with them for the citizens of Ri-Bhoi.
He further said that there is a long way to go to fight for development and the rights of the people, but all these things cannot happen without the people being united. He, therefore, urged everyone to come together and to avoid making problems that will hamper development.
