An Outreach Programme along Indo-Bangladesh border was organised jointly by the North Eastern Service of Akashvani and Akashvani Shillong, in collaboration with the BSF Meghalaya at the river banks of Jadukata, under Gumaghat border outpost, East Khasi Hills.
Attended by regular and casual employees of both the stations, the programme was successful in sowing seeds for a healthy relationship between Akashvani and the BSF personnel, as well as the village heads and the common people. The programme was hosted by Krishna Das Gupta, English Announcer, Akashvani North Eastern Service.
During the event, Tarni Kumar Tiu, Deputy Inspector General, BSF Shillong, emphasised the significance of such Outreach Programmes in fostering community outreach and strengthening the bond between BSF and the local border population.
“The collaborative effort between Akashvani North East and BSF reflects their commitment to serving and uplifting the lives of people in the border areas,” he said.
Niki Jana, the Secretary of Nolikata village, expressed gratitude in his speech, conveying happiness and a sense of indebtedness to Akashvani and BSF for organising a meaningful program. He eagerly looks forward to future interactions with BSF and Akashvani NES and Shillong.
Amidst a picturesque setting beside the riverside, the BSF Orchestra entertained the gathering with musical renditions of patriotic and popular Hindi songs. A touch of the local culture was added by Really Lyngskor and his team of performers, who presented a Khasi song and Khasi dance.
Ferdinand Dkhar, Head of Programme, NES Akashvani, who led the team, explained to the audience that the Outreach Programme is the brainchild of Ashish Bhatnagar, Additional Director General, North East Zone Akashvani and Doordarshan.
Dkhar hoped that such collaborations would go a long way in bringing Akashvani closer to the BSF as well as the common people in the border areas, especially the beloved listeners.
He also presented a beautiful song titled ‘Forever Young’ and dedicated this song to all the BSF troopers and to all present at the function.
Antony War, Assistant Engineer, Akashvani Shillong explained how one can now tune in to Akashvani programmes on their mobile phones and through this programme to reach to the listeners.
