With the model code of conduct now in force in Meghalaya in view of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections slated for April 19, authorities have removed posters, hoardings, banners etc which were put up in both government and private properties.
According to officials, 109 posters were removed from government premises and 248 others from public spaces.
Similarly, 228 banners were removed from government premises and 440 from public spaces.
43 hoardings were removed from government premises and 58 from public spaces.
Besides, the authorities have also erased 323 defacements from government properties, 599 from public property and 253 from private properties.
Authorities also said that photos of political functionaries are being removed from government websites.
The Election Department has activated and placed Flying Squads in all Assembly constituencies of the State. Expenditure monitoring agencies have also been activated.
Officials of government departments have been sensitised on provisions of the model code of conduct.
