Politics in the Jaiñtia Hills region is based on threats and force.
This was stated by Voice of the People Party (VPP) President Ardent M Basaiawmoit today during a public meeting held in Khliehriat West community hall.
Stating that the VPP is against such politics, he stressed on clean politics. He said the party looks to protect and safeguard the interest of the indigenous people while at the same time not deny constitutional rights of other people in the state.
He urged people to stand united and to wisely choose representatives during the elections.
Basaiawmoit also spoke on corruption and unemployment in the state and said these are the root cause for backwardness and underdevelopment in the state.
“Good and clean governance should bring good health centres, schools and colleges, uplift the economy of the people, have a strong state exchequer unlike a government who even wants to consume the people’s rights,” he added.
