Over 340 anti-aircraft live ammunition and four ammunition boxes were recovered from a jungle in South Garo Hills today, police said.
South Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Shailendra Bamaniya in statement said the items were seized by Chokpot police after information was received from reliable sources on April 24 that some ammunition boxes were kept hidden by suspected militants somewhere in the jungle of Chibokgre village.
He said the team led by Sub Divisional Police Officer Chokpot accompanied by other police officers proceeded to the area at 1:15 am to conduct search for the hidden ammunition.
The hidden ammunition was unearthed at around 3:27 am. The SP however has not confirmed to whom the stash belonged to.
