The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) today organised the live webcasting of the launch of the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, which was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The webcasting was hosted by the KVKs in Ri Bhoi, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills districts which was attended by farmers, highlighting the significance of the scheme in supporting the agricultural community.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM- KISAN) Yojana, a central Sector scheme provides an annual financial assistance of Rs. 6000 eligible farmer family, wherein today 9.8 crore farmers benefitted from Direct Transfer of Rs.22,000 crore.
With the aim of the scheme to increase production, reduce the cost of production, ensure fair prices for produce, compensate for crop losses, diversify agriculture for the farmers, all keynotes points of the webcasted program was translated and highlighted for the benefit of the farmers.
In South Garo Hills, the programme was held at Chockpot wherein horticulture seed kits, water-cans were distributed to the farmers. Five of them were felicitated for their outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture and allied field.
Similarly, in West Garo Hills five progressive farmers were felicitated. An exhibition on organic and natural farming was also organised.
