Shillong, Sep 16: A two-day capacity building workshop for development of quality video content under PM eVIDYA DTH TV Channels got underway today at MTTA, DERT Annexe, Malki here.
Organised by the Educational Technology Cell, DERT, it is the first face-to-face PM eVIDYA workshop in collaboration with CIET-NCERT.
The workshop is being led by Prof. Abhay Kumar, In-Charge PM eVIDYA, along with Akhilesh Verma and Monika Bhakuni, Academic Consultants, CIET-NCERT.
Education Commissioner & Secretary R. Rapthap attended the workshop as guest, accompanied by DERT Director JU Kharpuri, and Deputy Director MC. Nodal Officers Dr. David M. Nongrum and Hameki Nonghuloo were present. Prof. Amarendra P. Behera, Joint Director, CIET-NCERT, New Delhi, joined online.
In his address, Rapthap highlighted the role of digital technology in democratising education, noting PM eVIDYA as a vital tool to bridge educational gaps and deliver equitable, quality learning resources across Meghalaya, including bridging language barriers.
Kharpuri emphasised high-quality, culturally relevant and curriculum-aligned local e-content, urging teachers to leverage the five allocated state DTH channels to create engaging digital lessons.
Prof. Behera commended Meghalaya’s proactive digital initiatives and reiterated CIET-NCERT’s technical and pedagogical support.
Dr. Nongrum presented the status of the five PM eVidya DTH TV Channels allocated to Meghalaya (Channel Nos. 123-127).
A total of 20 participants, including DIET Nodal Officers and key teachers from various districts, are attending. Over two days, they will undergo hands-on sessions on e-content development, graphics & copyright, script recording, video editing and video quality review.
