Over 1000 alumni of Pine Mount School have demanded immediate suspension of the present Principal of the school pending enquiry into its affairs.
In a petition to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma the alumni today has also sought for a time-bound inquiry including into acts of omission and commission and corruption by the school administration and it’s principal.
Drawing his attention to intervene into the allegations of mismanagement of one of the oldest schools of Northeast India, the alumni also suggested for an independent educational audit of the school vis-a-vis RTE and Swaccha Bharat norms and to implement the Jal Jivan Mission scheme in the school, to create water infrastructure and improvement in the running of school boarding.
The alumni said that it was saddened that the centuries old prime institution is being run to the ground even as the government had years earlier expressed the need for setting up more pine mount model schools across the state.
Stating that the government has ignored the issues plaguing the school the alumni said, “While Delhi is only now boasting of premiere public schools, pine mount was one that shone bright years earlier and it is our bounded duty to protect this school and ensure the teachers and students rights are ensured.”
Further, the alumni urged the government not to penalise the teachers, for being whistle blowers but to take the complaints seriously and rectify without further delay.
