Phoebe Dale Nongrum finished in second place in the Rally of Maharashtra in Nashik, which ran from May 31 to June 2, a press release said today.
The race was the second round of the Indian National Rally Championship 2024
In this rally, Nongrum took second to go along with her earlier victory in the South Indian Rally in Chennai. After the second round, she continues to lead the championship for Meghalaya and the entire North East. Having triumphed in two Indian cities, Phoebe has four more to conquer to claim her INRC championship title.
This rally featured 10 stages, each varying in length, including the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma stages. The Beta stage, a 22km stretch, was particularly challenging with its technical, rough terrain and rocky surface. This stage saw several competitors face difficulties, resulting in crashes and DNFs (did not finish), while others managed to push through. The remaining stages also posed their unique challenges.
The event spanned three days in the ghats of Maharashtra, on the outskirts of Nashik. Out of 53 competitors, Nongrum secured second place in the women’s category, eighth place in the INRC 3 category and finished 15th overall. Nongrum aims to bring home the INRC title in 2024 after competing in all six rounds.
