PHE Minister, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar today inspected the ongoing construction work of the Nongrah Water Supply Scheme-Phase I.
The minister was accompanied by Nongthymmai MLA, Dr Jemino Mawthoh, engineers of the project and members of the dorbar shnong.
Following the inspection, Tongkhar told reporters that the locality that has experienced acute water shortage for many years will be addressed with the water supply scheme that aims to cover the entire population there.
He informed that through the water supply scheme, the locality will be able to provide 70 litre per person per day, which is also higher than what is being allotted through the Jal Jeevan Scheme that stands at 55 litres of potable water per person per day.
Tongkhar said that the Nongrah water supply scheme could be a model for other localities having no source of water.
Mawthoh informed that the water scheme which was approved by the PHE on March 31, 2017 amounts to Rs 5.9 crore. He added that through the project, about 12,000 people will be benefitted.
