Shillong, Aug 3: The All-Meghalaya Pharmacist Association has sought an audience with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to discuss several long-pending issues affecting the pharmacy profession in the state.
AMPA President Englebert Rynjah said earlier representations to the government remain pending and flagged six key issues for discussion.
These include an update on the Meghalaya Pharmacy Council election, implementation and review of the Meghalaya Pharmacist Service Rules, 2025, and increasing pharmacist posts to address “limited recruitment opportunities”.
The association also called for creation and filling of additional Drug Inspector posts, adoption of Indian Public Health Standards for pharmacist staffing, and strict enforcement of the Pharmacy Practice Regulations, 2015 in community and hospital pharmacies.
AMPA further urged a review of the Pharmacy Assistant programme under MSSDS, citing concerns over its impact on the profession and patient care.
The association said the issues have “a direct bearing on the quality of pharmaceutical services and healthcare delivery in Meghalaya” and assured the meeting would be “brief, constructive, and focused on practical solutions”.
