Joining other political groups, the youth wing of the People’s Democratic Front today expressed its opposition over the choice of words used by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat over the weekend, namely when he said that all Indians are Hindus.
PDYF working president Egenstar Kurkalang said that the Khasis have their own customs, culture and civilisation and do not borrow from any other cultures, despite the advancement of technology, spread of education and mingling with other communities.
“But none of the customs, culture, ideology and philosophy coming from either other parts of India or outside the country have influenced the indigenous Khasis,” Kurkalang asserted.
He added that the Khasi people will continue to work for the welfare and development of their own identity and protection as per the Constitution.
