A passing out parade for the 41st batch of unarmed branch constables was held at the Police Training School, Umran, Ri-Bhoi, today for 56 personnel.
The constables, comprising 10 women and 46 men, endured 11 months of training on outdoor and indoor subjects. They were trained in a wide range of topics involving techniques and skill, physical training, handling of tactical weapons and handling of law and order situations. The indoor curriculum included subjects like gender sensitization, human rights, and community policing.
The attestation parade was reviewed by Additional Director General of Police, H Nongpluh, in the presence of other senior police officers and dignitaries.
In his address Nongpluh congratulated the new inductees and appreciated their brilliant drill display. The ADGP also encouraged and advised the constables to give their best in performing their duties. The chief guest also mentioned that, though this is the 41st passing out parade, it comes at a point in history as this is the transition batch from the Police Training School to Meghalaya Police Academy.
The parade ended with a band display from the 1st MLP Battalion, Mawïong.
