- The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution will conduct a study visit in Shillong from January 6 to 8.
On the first day, the committee will hold an informal discussion with the Chief Secretary regarding ‘Initiatives in the North-East in the field of Consumer Rights Protection’.
The Committee will also visit the Food Corporation of India (FCI) food storage depot in the state capital.
On the second day, the committee will hold an informal discussion with the FCI and Central Warehousing Corporation regarding ‘Post-Harvest Management of Food grains: Storage, Transport and Distribution’ with special reference to storage in the North East.
The committee members will also visit the Price Reporting Centre/State Consumer Commission.
