Merchants and shopkeepers have extended support to the Shillong Citizen Forum (SCF) in its call for a complete shutdown of all shops and business establishments across Greater Shillong, as a mark of protest to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The Barabazar Merchants and Shopkeepers Association has urged all its members to voluntarily shut down their establishments on April 28, as a symbol of solidarity and condemnation of the heinous act.
Ahead of the shutdown, the SCF on Sunday will hold a candlelight vigil from 5 pm to 7 pm in front of the old Assembly building at Khyndai Lad.
Meanwhile, the National People’s Party (NPP) during its first national committee meeting observed a two-minute silence in solemn remembrance of the departed souls and offered prayers for strength and comfort for the bereaved families.
The party has strongly condemned the heinous act of terror against innocent civilians and also appealed for the return of peace and normalcy.
