The district magistrate of East Khasi Hills Rosette M. Kurbah today issued prohibitory order against the plying of heavy loaded vehicles passing through the Mawmaram-Nongthliew-Mawmih-Mawlyndep road.
The order said the movement of overloaded vehicles carrying more than nine tons has damaged portions of the road and poses danger and threat to villagers and pedestrians due to the narrow width of the road.
The order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till further orders. It also warned violators of punishment under Section 188 of the BNSS.
