An outreach programme on Systematic Voter’s Education & Electoral Participations (SVEEP) was held in Nongstoin yesterday.
The programme was organised by the Office of Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office in collaboration with the Election Department.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, H. Kerwood Thabah said that voters’ education and electoral participation are integral parts of the democratic process while highlighting the need to understand the values of electoral participation, especially among the young voters or the youths.
He also exhorted everyone to take active participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on April 19.
Deputy Labour Commissioner, PT Blah who is also the master trainer of the department demonstrated the set of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPAT).
He enlightened the audience about ethical voting practices, legal provisions, and the use of EVMs and VVPATs.
On the spot quiz competition and slogan writing and short speech competitions on the theme was also held on the occasion.
Winners of both the competitions were awarded certificates and cash prizes.
