To provide better health facilities, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary AL Hek today carried out a soft launch of the Out Patient Department (OPD) block in his own hospital called, ARHI or Angelcure Research Hospital and Institute.
The 200-bedded private hospital is located opposite the North East Cancer Hospital in Jorabat. It is expected to be fully functional as a multi-speciality institute in the next few months.
Hek said around 32-35 specialists have been recruited to meet the patients’ requirements besides 300 nurses and medical technicians. The number of doctors is expected to increase to a hundred and nurses are recruited from all parts of the North East, he added.
Hek said the intention to come up with the hospital is with the belief that ‘Service to man, is service to God’.
Dr Feroze a specialist at the hospital and member of the board mentioned that ARHI is a super speciality tertiary care hospital. They will have several centres of excellence like state-of-the-art Cancer centres, cardiac centres, neurology centres and several other centres.
“We are specialists from different fields and we are pioneers in our branch so we have experience we felt the need to come together and it is with one common goal so our unity will continue. We urge specialists from NE and outside the state to come here and work together and achieve the same goal,” Dr Sandeep said.
Dr Simranjeet Singh, a neurosurgeon said that every specialist or department will want to be the best but for the benefit of the people. “Everyone will be trying to push their centre as the centre of excellence. That itself will help the hospital and the people, plus the goal is common, which is to do work that is better than what is already being done and to benefit everyone. Our goal is to provide the best of care,” he added.
Cardiac specialist, Dr Bikash Rai Das informed that ARHI will be the first hospital in Meghalaya to have all the heart surgery done in a private setup. “To date, only NEGRIHMS has the facility which is a government set-up with limitations. This will be the first private setup that will be able to operate on any kind of heart patient. The travel that patients and families had to make to Mumbai or Delhi and other states can now avail care at the hospital, he said.
Local MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and former DHS Dr Aman Warr along with the board members of ARHI were present to witness the inauguration.
