One person was injured when thunderstorms and heavy rainfall lashed Garo Hills last night.
The injured person from Rangira Gittim was admitted to the Tura Civil Hospital’s ICU on Saturday.
Many houses and other utilities were damaged and power lines snapped.
According to the West Garo Hills district administration, the thunderstorm affected 140 houses and about 500 people. The localities affected are Bolsal Achik, Nikwatgre, Rangira Gittim, Kombe Gittim, Gongadamal in Tura and Bokmagre, Waram Songma, Aguragre, Lower Danagre, Megapgre, Uregre, Soragre, Botegre under Rongram block.
The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team, MeECL, PWD have been activated to provide necessary assistance.
