A 29-year old man was arrested for his alleged involvement in vandalising ATMs during load shedding hours.
The accused whose identity has not been revealed by the police has five cases lodge in Rynjah PS, two each in Madanrting and Laitumkhrah PS.
Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem said a series of ATMs were vandalised by the person with the aim to steal cash.
Preliminary interrogation has revealed that he committed the acts of crime in the ATMs at Madanrting, Laitumkhrah, Rynjah and Laban. “The clothes, bag and umbrella which were used while committing the crime were seized from his house. The total damage is worth over Rs 10lakhs,” Syiem said.
He said the accused has been first arrested in connection with Madanrting PS case and forwarded to the court.
Investigation will ascertain whether there are any other accomplices and modus operandi in opening ATMs, he added.
