Police seized a huge quantity of contraband drugs and arrested one person in Ri Bhoi district, yesterday evening.
Police said the accused Ricky Diengdoh of Byrnihat was arrested after information was received that he was selling contrabands to youths of Meghalaya and Assam.
Following detention and interrogation, police conducted a search at his house premises at Byrnihat and Aamtola in Assam and recovered one gunny bag containing marijuana and one packet wrapped in a brown colour tape containing the contraband, police said.
Approximately 17.6 kg of marijuana was recovered from the premises of the accused, police added.
Diengdoh was arrested under the NDPS Act and police are investigating if there are any other persons involved to further curb the menace of drugs and narcotic substances.
