Editor,
The news that the state government would release pending salary payments to striking teachers is a welcome step and a positive gesture which we must appreciate to certain measure but not all of it. That being said, where in the world would we find education and educators being left in the lurch and putting the future career prospects of students in jeopardy. The state government authorities shower praises to teachers every 5th of September but when they are made to come out into the streets and beg for their livelihood this becomes too pathetic and displays the systematic failure of governance under the current dispensation by the NPP. If we want a society of hope and futuristic then the pillars of education should be heard lest their absence would lead to a state of anarchy. Period.
