Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla has claimed that NPP would form the government in 2023 on its own even as he predicted that party would win 33 seats in the Assembly elections in 2023.
Shylla who is the president of NPP West Jaiñtia Hills District Unit said that 18 candidates of the party from Khasi and Jaintia Hills region and 15 from Garo Hills region will win the Assembly elections in 2023.
“33 candidates of our party will win and so we will form the next government on our own,” Shylla said at a party meeting in Amlarem today.
He also said that the MDA government led by NPP has done a lot for the State in the present tenure which included settlement of the boundary dispute with Assam, extension of age relaxation and efforts to solve the issue of Them Iew Mawlong.
Shylla also appealed to the electorates of Amlarem constituency to support the NPP.
Meanwhile, former Amlarem MLA Riang Lennon Tariang along with several of his supporters joined the NPP today at a meeting held at Syiem Jingsuk hall in Amlarem.
Tariang said that he joined the party in order to extend support to party candidate for the 2023 polls Stephanson Mukhim.
Also present at the meeting were War Central MDC Holando Lamin, War West MDC Het Pohthmi, Jowai South MDC Saron Paswet and nominated Otomewot Lamin.
Speakers at the meeting lashed out at Amlarem MLA Lahkmen Rymbui for failing to bring development in the constituency.
They also accused him of failing to perform as education minister since during his tenure teachers of various categories had to agitate to get their rights.
