Exuding confidence that the National People’s Party (NPP) is heading for an absolute majority, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said there is no point to “waste vote in other political parties.”
Sangma was on an election campaign to drum support for his candidates in Shallang under Mawshynrut constituency and Gabil under Bajendoba. He asserted that people from different political parties across the State are joining NPP because the wave of NPP is very strong.
Stating that the TMC practises ‘vendetta politics’ and brought misleading promises he said the people should unite to ensure defeat of parties who are claiming as messiah of the society. “We have to reject their vendetta and ensure that NPP and its candidates are given the mandate to champion the cause of our society,” he said
He termed the WeCard and MyCard schemes of the TMC as misleading programmes and said they are seeking registration without even collecting account details. “It is a pure election gimmick and they are afraid of NPP’s wave and tried to replicate what we already introduced but failed miserably,” he said.
Sangma said the flagship scheme introduced by NPP-led government – Focus & Focus+ have benefited individual farming households and producer groups, who have received funds to about Rs. 1 lakh each group in average to initiate their farming and other activities.
He said that the NPP-led Government will continue with this scheme, which will continue to support over 4.5 lakh farmers of the State.
