The National People’s Party (NPP) is well on course to defend its rule in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Councils (KHADC and JHADC), party youth leader and KHADC MDC Bajop Pyngrope has told Highland Post.
“As party workers, we are doing our jobs on the ground and we are moving from one constituency to another in preparation for the council elections next year,” Pyngrope, the representative of Rambrai Jyrngam, said.
Stating that the NPP will secure a good number of seats, he observed that the NPP also lost with small margins in many constituencies in the Assembly election earlier this year, signalling that the party’s strength is strong.
“We will work harder in the constituencies that we lost by a few votes and we are positive that this time as well the NPP will do well,” Pyngrope added.
When asked if he will still contest from Rambrai Jyrngam, he said that this will depend solely on the people of the constituency he represents as he always takes the consensus of the people.
