In preparation for the Lok Sabha and Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) next year, the Ri-Bhoi unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) conducted a leadership renewal session, appointing party leaders to the various blocks of the districts.
Ampareen Lyngdoh, cabinet minister and the NPP’s Lok Sabha candidate for the Shillong seat, and Hamletson Dohling, the NPP’s state working president, were present to oversee the process.
During the meeting, Jirang MLA Sothenes Sohtun assumed the role of block president for the Jirang constituency. Jason Mawlong was appointed as the president of Umsning block, Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare took charge as the president of Umroi block, Shemphang Lyngdoh became the block president of Mawhati and Henry Nongrum assumed the role of block president for Nongpoh block.
Others who attended were NPP Meghalaya secretary Prof Donkupar War, NPP Ri-Bhoi secretary Samlin Malngiang, NPP Ri-Bhoi president Clement Mawlong and Umsning MLA Macdalyne Mawlong, among others.
