Shillong, Feb 16: The National People’s Party (NPP) has denied party ticket to Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Chief Albinush Marak, citing doubts over his “winnability” in the upcoming polls.
NPP Working President and Cabinet Minister Marcuise N Marak stated that the decision was made with “great difficulty”.
Marak said party leaders, including national chief Conrad K Sangma, personally met candidates seeking tickets to garner support and cooperation.
He said “winnability, loyalty, and past political experience” were key factors in selecting candidates.
The NPP selected Calis G Momin to contest the Siju constituency in place of Marak.
