The National People’s Party (NPP) has decided to field Shemphang Lyngdoh as its candidate from Mawhati constituency for the upcoming assembly elections.
The seat is currently held by NPP MLA, Dasakhiatbha Lamare who has now decided to shift base and contest from Nongkrem constituency.
Lyngdoh was also confirmed president of the party block today.
A party meeting to decide on the party candidature was held at Mawlasnai today, which was also attended by Lamare, his father and Ri Bhoi NPP adviser Ngaitlang Dhar, Ri Bhoi NPP President, Clement Mawlong amongst others.
At the meeting, former MDC, James Sylliang and secretary of Mawhati Constituency People’s Committee Mathias Mynsong along with hundreds of followers also joined the NPP.
NPP leaders decided to strengthen the party and were optimistic that since the people are satisfied with the works of the NPP-led government in the State, the verdict will be on their behalf.
