Shillong, Dec 4: Irengbam Hemochandra Singh, former Speaker of Manipur Assembly, has been appointed as the National Vice President of the National People’s Party (NPP).
The announcement was made by NPP National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
A seasoned politician, Singh entered the political arena in 1991 following his father, late Tompok Singh, who tragically passed away in a plane crash. At just 26, he won the by-election for his father’s Singjamei constituency seat and has since secured five assembly elections.
Singh, who previously served as a Congress MLA, resigned from the party in March 2024, citing a “lack of faith” in its leadership.
