The RIAS Music Centre was officially inaugurated here today by Mariahom Kharkrang, chief spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Meghalaya and retired police officer.
The centre aims to serve as a dedicated platform for nurturing the musical talents of local youth while promoting skill development and providing new opportunities in the region.
Also present on the occasion were state BJP vice-president Khrawbok Basaiawmoit, Regional Institute of Advanced Studies (RIAS) managing director Skhemborlang Swet.

Established in 2018, RIAS provides professional courses in computer studies and music, with over 1,300 students coming through in that time.
“Degrees alone, whether a doctorate or master’s, are insufficient if we lack practical skills,” Kharkrang said in a speech. “To thrive in today’s competitive world, we must be equipped with both knowledge and practical expertise.”
