Congress nominees from four constituencies in Ri Bhoi have predicted big win for the party in all the five assembly constituencies during the upcoming 2023 elections.
The Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee during a general meeting today had recommended the names of Rona Khymdeit (Nongpoh), Dr Celestine Lyngdoh (Umsning), Adrian C. Mylliem (Jirang) and Charles Marngar (Mawhati) as candidates for the Assembly elections likely to be held in February.
The party is left with Umroi constituency to nominate a contender before the party high command approves.
The nominated candidates during their speech at the meeting exuded confidence that the Congress would win all the five seats in the district even though there are desertions. They said the party will stand firm in its ideology to work for the welfare of people.
The candidates were of the view that people are unhappy with the political parties in the State, especially the United Democratic Party and the National People’s Party and said they are “puppets of the BJP.”
MPCC president Vincent H Pala slammed the UDP and NPP for not living up to their promises of working towards the welfare of the people and stated that the two parties are “working from being the scene with the BJP”.
Pala said that people of Meghalaya are yet to accept the BJP and stated that people knows how to “teach them (UDP and NPP) a lesson after all the false promises.”
