Despite being under fire from numerous corners, including from supposed allies in the government, Power Minister James Sangma today said he holds no grudge against those who have been seeking his removal.
“With this position comes a great amount of responsibility and I understand that whatever demands have been made is because of genuine concerns they have for the people and that is something that I feel as well,” Sangma said.
The United Democratic Party, a party that is part of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, the opposition Congress and former MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, among others, have demanded the removal of Sangma as Power Minister for the poor health of the state-owned utility.
The minister said that the government is trying to collectively resolve the long-pending issues in the electricity corporation.
“I don’t know if anyone else could resolve these issues at this given point of time. It would be very challenging for anybody,” Sangma said, adding his thanks to those who take his view that the issues predate his taking charge of the Power Department.
