With every major party proudly predicting that it will win an outright majority at the next state election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that there will be no government in Meghalaya without it.
In a press release, BJP state president Ernest Mawrie was quoted as saying that other political parties “were building castles in the air”.
He said that these parties believe that the voters are ignorant and can be manipulated but are completely unaware about the mood of the voters.
“The people of Meghalaya have experienced the positive difference that the BJP can create in the state through the various central schemes that have touched their lives,” the release said. “This time around, the people are determined to elect a BJP-led, development-oriented, corruption-free government that will work only for the people and the state.”
Although far from claiming that the party will take a majority in the Assembly at the elections due by March 2023, Mawrie reiterated that the message on the ground is clear – that there will be no government formed in 2023 without the BJP.
