Retired Indian Forest Service official Cavouright P Marak has been named as the next Chairperson of the Meghalaya Lokayukta.
Marak will be sworn in to his new role on Friday at Raj Bhavan here.
The previous Chairperson,Bhalang Dhar, retired on February 28 and the ombudsman has been functioning without a chair since then.
Marak was a former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial). Following his retirement as a civil servant, he took on various other roles. In 2021 he was appointed as a member of the Meghalaya State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. And in 2023 he was named Executive Chairman of MBOSE.
