Employees of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in Umiam, Ri-Bhoi who live in Guwahati will be allowed to use their personal vehicles to commute daily between their homes and office without having to submit to a Covid-19 test on entering Meghalaya.
The employees covered under this exception are specifically “technicians and scientists hailing from Assam and other North Eastern states”.
It was informed by the Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary MN Nampui through a press release today that an exception to this effect has been added to regulations to manage essential services and to allow movement of skilled and technical manpower and professionals.
However, the NESAC commuters will need to be tested for the virus once every 10 days.
“It will be ensured that their movement will be restricted from place of stay to their workplace only,” Nampui added.
