A bridge constructed under the MGNREGA was today inaugurated at Sakhaiñ village in East Jaiñtia Hills district by Deputy Commissioner E. Kharmalki.
The project which was under the lookout of the Saipung C&RD Block was constructed at Rs 23, 16, 800.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the villagers on the fruitful execution of the project and said that it is one of the most attractive rural bridge constructed. He further encouraged the villagers to also look towards human development in terms of health especially of children and women by working in coordination with the ASHAs and Anganwadi workers.
Kharmalki further informed that women can also be appointed as members of the VECs.
Others who spoke at the function were Saipung R. Pyrtuh, former wahehshnong Tippor Pala, Doloi of Sutnga Elaka E.Sutnga and others.
