The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at NEIGRIHMS will organise the National Vascular Day Run on August 3, 2024.
National Vascular Day in India is celebrated every year on August 6 and events are organised to create awareness about the aim to save limbs and make India ‘Amputation Free’.
As a small part of this endeavour to make the people of Meghalaya and the entire North East aware of the symptoms, causes and available treatment to avoid amputation, the CTVS Department at NEIGRIHMS will organise the 5km run to raise awareness.
Interested runners (male and female) are invited to participate in the event from 6am at Third Ground, Polo on the day. Free t-shirts will be distributed to all participants and there will also be cash prizes to the winners.
The race will begin at the Third Ground parking lot, go up to the Golf Club, Mawlai Mawroh, FCI, MeECL, Shillong Secondary School, CRPF main gain and back to Third Ground.
Winners will receive Rs 10,000 in prize money, with Rs 5,000 for the second-placed runner and Rs 2,000 for third place. Consolation prizes of Rs 500 will be given to those who finish between fourth and eighth places.
In addition, a Rs 500 cash prize will be awarded for the top three finishers above 50 years old.
Participants can register themselves online or on-site on race day. T-shirts and chest numbers will be distributed at the same time.
