Editor,
NEIGRIHMS handled the nursing recruitment process very poorly. NEIGRIHMS excuse was that there were limited centres here in Meghalaya. Such an excuse is baseless. Central institutes like ICAR, JNV and Staff Selection Commission have successfully conducted online exams in the State for so many years for thousands of candidates.
Secondly, candidates did not even get the chance to book their seat which should have been the case as per the official notification (first on the 19th – 30th October, then from 6th – 12th November 2022). Had they have gotten a chance to book it would have been a different case.
It might be worth mentioning here that so many candidates have to go to other states, especially Assam for the exam. If NEIGRIHMS is meant for the entire North East region then why is it that there are plenty of centres in Assam and not other north-eastern states? Do other North East states lack online test centres? Or is it because the Controller of Examination himself is from Assam and prefers candidates from Assam?
I appreciate the NGOs like KSU and FKJGP who went to higher authorities to take up this issue but the fact of the matter is that candidates did not get the proper chance.
NEIGRIHMS needs to postpone the exam, fix the option of centre booking, increase centres in Meghalaya and then only conduct the exam. They have waited three years (which should have been six months according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) and so a couple more weeks won’t do harm.
I am writing this letter to your newspaper as the career of many youth is at stake.
