North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong has slipped to the 90th rank in the overall category of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021.
Out of 100 higher educational institutions that took part in the NIRF ranking, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras retains the first position in overall category for the third consecutive year.
This is the sixth consecutive edition of India Rankings of higher educational institutions in India.
The parameters for the rankings include Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, Perception.
In Teaching, Learning and Resources, NEHU scored 55.53 out of 100. In Research and Professional Practice it scored 16.31. Further, in Graduation Outcomes, the university scored 74.61. In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 51.63 while in Perception, it scored only 11.62.
However, in terms of the rankings for universities, NEHU was placed at the 59th spot. Indian Institute of Science was ranked top followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University in the second position and Banaras Hindu University in the third spot.
In Teaching, Learning and Resources, NEHU scored 55.53, In Research and Professional Practice it scored 16.31. In Graduation Outcomes, the university scored 74.61, In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 51.63 and in Perception, it scored 26.14.
Among the management institutes in the ranking, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong was ranked at the 23rd spot. IIM Ahmedabad clocked the first position followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta in second and third spots respectively.
In the parameters of Teaching, Learning and Resources, IIM Shillong scored 70.29. In Research and Professional Practice it scored 18.79. In Graduation Outcomes it scored 93.21, In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 77.60 in Perception, it scored 37.38.
Among the engineering institutes in the NIRF ranking, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya was ranked 59th. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras was placed in the top, followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay in the second and third positions respectively.
In Teaching, Learning and Resources, NIT Meghalaya scored 67.63. In Research and Professional Practice it scored 24.12. In Graduation Outcomes, the university scored 55.30, In Outreach and Inclusivity it scored 64.22and in Perception, it scored only 3.56.
