Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Dr. Mukul Sangma is likely to visit New Delhi on October 3 to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi and discuss with them on the current internal crisis in the party in Meghalaya.
According to sources, the former chief minister has got an appointment with Sonia and Rahul and he is expected to leave Shillong for the national capital tomorrow evening.
Dr. Sangma’s visit to New Delhi assumes significance following media reports that he along with a number of Congress MLAs from the State are likely to quit the party and float a new political party.
Dr. Sangma was unhappy with the decision of the Congress high command to appoint party MP Vincent H. Pala as the Meghalaya Congress chief.
He along with all party MLAs from Garo Hills has even skipped the function to welcome Pala’s take over as State party president.
